There are so many attractions and places of interest to see in and around Cardiff including the old Cardiff docklands now home to Cardiff Bay which is not only a freshwater lake but also used for sailing and watersports.” Here you will also find the Bay visitor centre attraction home to exhibitions and displays on the history and development of Cardiff Bay and which includes a scale model of the entire city,entry is free.
St Fagan’s National History Museum is one of Europe’s foremost open–air museums and Wales’s most popular heritage attraction, again there is free entry. There’s Cardiff Castle, which during its 2000 years of history, has been a Roman Garrison, a Norman stronghold and in Victorian times a gothic fairytale fantasy, then there is Castell Coche Wales’s own fairytale-like castle complete with romantic turrets.
Unofficial Doctor Who Cardiff Locations Bus Tour. Starting with a short walk around the city centre you will then go on a bus journey around Cardiff to see where the rift cracked open, Amy Pond’s village, Rose Tyler’s workplace, sites from Doctor Who spin offs - The Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood, plus many other interesting Doctor Who locations and landmarks along the way. With the locations scattered around the Welsh capital the bus tour is the best way to see the Doctor Who Cardiff locations. The tour will be guided by knowledgeable Doctor Who experts some of whom have been extras in several episodes of the show.
Please note that as there will be walking involved in the tour it may not be suitable for those with mobility or health problems. The tour will finish back at Cardiff Castle
Tequniquest is a hands-on science centre in Cardiff, Children and adults alike are enthralled by the vast array of puzzles, gadgets and structures in the main exhibition hall or you can take in a show in the Science Theatre or gaze at the stars in the Planetarium.
Another must if you are visiting Cardiff are the Victorian red brick Pierhead Building and nearby state-of-the-art Y Senedd. This is the Welsh Assembly Government’s debating chamber, you can join a tour of the eco-friendly building, and watch Assembly debates from the public viewing gallery. .
Llandaff Cathedral in the ancient "City of Llandaff” is one of the oldest religious sites in the UK.
Like our other city guides Cardiff also offers sightseeing tours with its well know hop on hop of “Red sightseeing buses” where a warm welcome awaits you, you will be able to see and hear all about Cardiff, the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff Bay and of course the Castle.
Of course no visit to Cardiff would be complete without enjoying the marvelous array of shops that this wonderful city has to offer and already bursting with great outlets.
If you are staying in Wales or live in the area you might want to pop over the second Severn crossing bridge and visit the Georgian splendor of Bath or the cosmopolitan city of Bristol both of which can be reached in under an hour.
