Wells Cathedral is one of Britain’s architectural highlights and is mostly a product of the 12th - 14th centuries it embodies the very finest Early Gothic architecture with intricate carvings, a scissors vault to brace the building against shifting medieval foundations and a marvelous chapter house.

The Cathedral also houses one of the earliest mechanical clocks still in existence, with clockwork knights who exchange blows every hour.
The west front has an amazing collection of statuary set into over 300 individual niches.

Please note the Cathedral operates a Quiet Hour 12 noon to 1pm from April to October.
