The Cistercian abbey of Cleeve boasts the best complete and unaltered set of monastic cloister buildings in England, standing roofed and two storey’s high. The Abbey includes the gatehouse, the 15th-century refectory with its glorious angel roof, an unusual ’painted chamber’ and the floor of an earlier refectory, decked from end to end with 13th-century heraldic tiles.

An exhibition and virtual tour tells the story of abbey life, and the exhibition Our Painted Past illustrates wall-paintings from English Heritage properties around the country.
Families, borrow our ’Story Book Bag’ when you visit to discover the tale of ’Brother Cedric’ and his missing sheep.
